The Old Kirk & Manse was constructed in 1856. It has historic connections with the Hollymount Presbyterian ministry including Reverend James Love (1831-81), later of Fortitude Valley, Queensland; Reverend Andrew Brown (d. 1888), later of Iron Mountain, Michigan; and Reverend James White (b. 1843), 'Presbyterian Clergyman' (NA 1911).

Melissa and Shane Gilligan purchased The Old Kirk & Manse, dreaming of returning it to its former glory and transforming it into a space that would create new and everlasting memories for its guests under the watchful eye of their son, Charlie.

Renovations began at The Old Kirk & Manse. Much was made of retaining as much of the existing build and materials as possible. The work took a total of two years as Melissa and Shane carefully and thoughtfully pieced every little inch of every little detail together, which can only be truly justified by visiting The Old Kirk & Manse in person.
2023
After dedication, craft and determination, The Old Kirk And Manse re-opened its doors to the public, hosting unique weddings, music events and family gatherings. New life has been imbued into the walls and surrounding gardens. Passers-by can hear laughter, witness joy and contemplate a much-anticipated visit in the near future.

Con and Grainne Murphy played a stunning sold-out show in The Old Kirk & Manse in June 2023. Con wrote a song as a tribute to the restoration and to the Gilligan's, who brought it back to "beyond its former glory". Con titled the song 'The Kirk and The Manse'. You can listen to the song below.
